Replacing Torque Convertor DIY

I've decided to DIY a new Torque Convertor. Plan is to use my pit and borrow a tall transmission jack to take it out and put it back. Anyone done this using a pit before? Will I have room to manoeuvre it. Pic below shows the clearance I have. Also I've noticed very slight rotational play on the front prop shaft. Is this acceptable or shall I replace that at the same time?

I have some 9"x3" timber off cuts you can have to place under the wheels or under the jack, if you need the car higher (?ample depth/ height in the pit).

Doesn't seem enough room for rolling on to car ramps at the front, unless the door is down.

Going to watch this thread with interest as I need to do mine but don't have access to a 2 post ramp to do the body off option yet. Good luck with it. Thumbs Up

Bought myself a floor transmission Jack to this. Pit has its lid back on. Bought all the new required nuts bolts and seals. Has anyone removed the transmission without removing the exhaust?

Just a simple question, is it possible to take off the whole autobox (to change the TC) without making a body off? Shocked

I'm reliably informed by a specialist who does them all the time that the exhaust does not need to come off

I changed an auto box a couple of weeks ago and confirm the exhaust can stay in place.

It can stay in place, but you need to remove the triangle turbo bracket support.
What I do is support the exhaust system off its hangers and drop it as you drop the rear of the box to stop stressing the flexible section on the exhaust.

Regards
Steve

Do you split the front section of the exhaust from the rest section to make it easier? I've been trying my best to find the access port for the torque nuts. Couldn't find it initially. Also I couldn't see the top 2 nuts on the gearbox that double up as nuts for the cross over pipe support bracket. Then Decided to start on replacing the front upper suspension arms whilst I thought a bit more about it and....Bingo! I can now see all of that after removing the off side upper suspension arm. This is almost doable. As you can see, I am being cautious. I'll post pics of what I can see having removed the uppe suspension arms tomorrow.
