Brake discs

Chaps

I have a scored disc on one side, car has done 29k

Can I change disc one side and pads both sides or do I need to change both discs despite the other one being ok?

Thanks in advance

I would not recommend changing one disc.

How bad is the scoring? Modern pads seem to have 'coarse' bits in, and quite often mark the discs. I have a rear disc with a score round it, but it's made no difference to the braking. It doesn't appear to have changed over the last 10k miles.

Put a picture up of the disc.

I heard the disc grinding on my home from work but was dark so couldn't check it.

Checked this morning with torch and could see the scoring in the middle of the disc but it's no longer making the noise.

Will try and get a picture up - rear brake is now squealing under slow braking

You may have had a small stone caught in it. I can't imagine it's done that much damage. Stick the picture up when you can.

You can normally get the little stones out by going in reverse for a short distance.

Looks like your brake pad is worn out to nothing.

It does doesn't it... in that picture.

However it is low but has pad left on it. As soon as I heard the noise I ordered parts from AF which arrive tomorrow but hadn't ordered a new disc which was my concern around whether to buy 1 or two new discs

My back right has done this also. Got told to wait for the warning light to come on by my dealer which it finally did on Tuesday. The pads have done 36K so very impressed with them but just don't want to be stung saying I need new discs!
