Sonorous from automatic gearbox

The automatic gearbox of my 2008 disco gives now and then a sonorous sound at 1400/1500 revs. When it appears and I shift the lever into command shift the revs go up (probably a lower gear) and the sound disappears. The symptom looks the same as if you drive in a to high gear for the speed. Anybody an idea
