Should this be connected

Rummaging about in the passenger side rear 'cubby hole' for want of a better description, I came across this orange connector with purple and black wires 'blowing in the breeze' should it plug in to something?
I looked but could see no obvious connection point
Any ideas what it is/does?

Cheers

Yep it's for the 12v socket

You may not have the socket fitted depending on spec

Thanks for the answers, now how do I reconnect as I can't get my hand around the back of the 12v socket.
Does the 12v socket pull out from the front with a little persuasion?
