Business!
The net result of the 50k is two fold. If we buy a premise we have a deposit. Also it allows us to reduce tax burden. Account and money to hand are two different situations. The 50k smooths that out. For example during Covid I had to keep more cash to hand so my tax burden was circa 30k. I couldn't for example make a pension contribution as I didn't know what was around the corner. So that meant more profit and that means I have to pay more tax.
Its purely financial planning / gain. As stated, borrowing 50k saves 6k + the expense of servicing the loan.

Okay, so the Disco has been making a strange low hum sort of noise, so I called out LRA yesterday. They think it might be a wheel bearing, but it’s anyone’s guess, so it gets taken into the local LR garage, who gleefully told me not only don’t they have a curtesy car, but my vehicle is no. 33 in the list and if I’d simply booked it in, they were looking at March before I could get a spot.
After 24 hours, LR have to provide a car for me. Rather than just hire one from the local Enterprise place, a round trip of 30 miles and less than an hour, they have decided to send me a new Defender from a dealership 50 miles distant from me. That will take two people, two vehicles and an hour each way. You couldn’t make it up!
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind a new Defender, but how on earth that is expedient is beyond me.

A high-up civil servant needed to travel from Bristol to our office in Crawley. He was told there were no chauffeured cars available for such a long trip so he would have to go by train. A chauffer duly took him to a Bristol station and he travelled to Crawley station - where he was met by the same car/chauffeur because he was the nearest one available!

The car is coming tomorrow morning. Aparently LR have cars that drift round dealerships for that purpose, so if one if needed it gets moved on, stays where ever until they need it somewhere else. They call them “raft cars” so I was told just now.
It’s not the dealership staff that drive it to me, it’s LR own people, so goodness knows where they come from, but I’ll ask. Either way it seems a bit convoluted.

I once had a job interview like that in London. I was the only candidate and the two interviewers took the same flight down from Glasgow as I did in the morning, although I didn't know that at the time. We did know each other for the flight back that night, though!Previously:

Insurance companies...
Trying to get a quote for the Defender I've ordered and already told them it's awaiting confirmation from the dealer on delivery dates and hasn't been delivered (or even built) yet... asked the following:
When was the vehicle first registered and what date was the vehicle purchased?
What is the current mileage reading on the new vehicle?
Has the vehicle ever been declared a write-off and have you had this checked? ...
and how exactly am I going to do this ? bangs head on wall !I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

Is there not an option for "haven't bought it yet"? Certainly when I've done speculative quotes on comparison sites I haven't been asked for date of reg, purchase, etc.Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

If only! they wanted the EXACT details of the car I was getting but didn't even have the Hard Top listed n their list of vehicle... hence the big mistake of "live chat"... they just didn't get that the car was still being built
I was trying to see about swapping over my current business policy to the new car but as it only runs for a few days after the new one arrives I might as well just take out a new policy (certainly less of a hassle) I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

Placed order a while back but have been umming and arrhing and looking at used car prices and seeing how values are falling but have decided "what the hell" and gone ahead with it anyway.... so to answer your question Del, Defender 110 D300 X-Dynamic HSE Hard Top in Carpathian Grey, air suspension, cold climate pack, off road pack, Comfort and convenience pack, electric towbar, leather steering wheel, Matrix LED lights, Chequer plate pack, black spare wheel cover (last two were thrown in by the dealer)... and most importantly secure tracker pro...

Sounds really good. And you’d get a lot of logs in the back.
Just got back to down sauf gaff to find a neighbour has a mint green new type 90. Not my cup of tea colour-wise but it seems to suit that car.

BBC reporting as in “UK warship shoots down drone” . Since when did we have UK navy? To me this implies that each of the 4 nations contribute ships to the UK navy . What ever happened to the Royal Navy? Is this another case of the BBC political madness?Once you have defeated the idiots any job is half done. Pity there are so many idiots to defeat.

It's probably more to with uneducated young reporter. Having seen the standard of graduates coming through our university system, I really fear for the future of this country. D4 HSE EU6 (Known as Jeeves)
