My dealer has just called to remind my my D4 needs a service. What surprised me was they said it needs a timing belt change and therefore it was going to be £1,300.
I think the schedule says 112,000 miles or 7 years and it will be seven years old later this year but it has only done 50,000 miles so I wonder how imperative it is to get it done now?
Any views from the experts?
Thanks
David

Got MY10 done in the summer, early I know however I wasn't chancing it. Used an indie and had over work done also and it was over £500 cheaper than that!!
Get it changed and don't risk it as Mikey says £13k for a new engine!2010 D4 GS

Looked around and waited for a deal , got 10% and free Mot , 7 year service inc belts etc £950 at the stealers last November . Fortunately I then had 2 claims with WD worth 2k and the fact it was original parts and upto date led to no quibble , so make sure if ya go indie they use LR parts

I know mine is a D3 but for peace of mind I got it done including oil and water pump. It is expensive but as Disco Mikey says it's better than a new engine.Transmission flush by Geoff.
EGR blanked
New oil pump & cambelt
Well that seems pretty conclusive - I shall phone around for some prices and get it done.
Thanks for the pointer to Groombridges Munk.

Cool, thanks for that Adam. I'll give them a call tomorrow. Got a price earlier of £1100 inc vat from
Aintree Garages, very nice and helpful chap, purportedly LR specialists- but that seemed a little heavy to be honest.
