.........As far as the back flag, it will not have much effect here, 50% will not know that you carry a Scottish flag and another 49% will believe that you are from tenerife (canary islands) that have an equal flag .... only 1% Think of a Scottish charcoal that retains the traffic with that damn roulotelost in translation!

Not quite, I know Espana very well,we had a house there. It gets much hotter than the UK especially in July and August even on the hottest day.You will not get those temps daily here in the UK .Anyway thanks all for the advice I did think I was worrying to much but there you go,now very reassured.

The north of spain is a bit cooler than the south but theres only a few degrees in it most of the time but it is still a lot warmer than the uk Discovery 3 se gone

That is true only in part. The north of Spain is very large and varied. It is not the same for anything the temperature that can have Barcelona in July or August to which Asturias or Bilbao has in the same period. The climate in barcelona in spite of being north of spain is mediterranean that is to say warm in summer, in contrast the climate of asturias, north also, is a very different cantabrico climate and much more cool and humid in summer, even more cool than the interior Of the United Kingdom, for example London, in the same period of the year.lost in translation!

We've taken the van to Andalucia (near Conil) a couple of times and it's still hot in September and into October, and the sea is lovely and warm.
Apart from near major cities Spanish motorways are usually quiet and much less stressful than in the UK, but you need to remember that with a Discovery and caravan your speed limit is 80 kph. I normally keep up with the trucks which travel at 90kph ish.MY12 D4 HSE Ipanema Sand

For example a map of distribution of temperatures in Spain in a heat wave in midsummer. This shows the normal situation and more usual throughout the summer. Observe the north-south and east-west difference....great difference!!
So the difference in the landscape is immediate!

In February/March we normally stay in the Hotel Balcon de Europa, Nerja for 3 weeks, in time for the Lent carnival, which is quite a spectacle. It ends on the Sunday with the ‘Entierro Del Bogueron’, where a facsimile sardine is blown up on the beach below the balcony. Great fun.

I couldn't face the 4 day drive this year - I don't fly and we have had very rough crossings previously on the Portsmouth/Santander ferry. We are regretting this decision now with the crap weather we are experiencing in the UK. In February/March it's quite warm in Nerja - 16 to 20 degrees, and the almond blossom is lovely.
