Transmission Oil Change for LR3 anyone?
I have seen this video
Seems that transmission oil change is very complicated procedure, am I right?

I would say a flush will be much cheaper for you.
Alos worth considering is lots of people reckon theres no ned to change the filter unless you are having trans issues, so a straight drain and refill might be your answer.

There are two other options to that video.
1) Use a 2 part metal sump and filter (£85). This means the old one can be cut off without having to remove engine mounts/exhaust. They do tend to leak though
2) Drain sump, Disconnect oil cooler. start engine for a few seconds to pump out all the oil in the torque converter. Make something to pump the oil back in

Yes, the plan is simply drain and fill but seems even to reach drain plug it's not easy, any idea to access this without a necessary to remove the transfer case mounting (means that metal horizontal bar connected to transfer case)

unplugging the drain plug is no issue, there is plenty of room. then you a half cut coca cola bottle for the oil to go straight into your pan. even if you don't you will end up into a dirty cross member.
if you wanna change the filter get the two piece one (filter plus pan). it takes only 30 min to replace with nothing to move. to get the old one out, since it is one piece, you cut the tube that goes into the gear box. nice and easy and job is done.
yet again a simple flush will most likely do the job.

I have done it, however remaining part is fluid level check, which I think little bit complicated since the heat from exhaust, it's hot when engine is running, do you think it's good idea to cover it with heat shield (temporarily)
its quite a simple operation really i did a tipple flush as i had 20l of oil and its running so smooth i then did the firmware update from Pat at Gap, worst part is lying under car in this weather but i just put flattened cardboard boxs around the car to stop the wind this is how i did it after getting it up in the air.
.1. drop transmition sheild
.2. make sure you can undo filler plug
.3. undo drain plug and drain.
.4. refit drain plug and fill until a small dribble comes out of filler plug
.5. refit filler then start car and go through all gears
.6. whilst engin still running remove filler and continue adding fluid
.7. at around 30 deg if at correct level some fluid should start to weep out of filler plug.
.8. re fir filler and go through gears
.9. take for a drive
i did this three times and glad i didRange Rover Westminster 4.4 TDV8 what a car

Just to add into this thread and for sharing purpose, I did FILO ways along with drain from oil sump, some person call it hybrid way
1. Rather than connect to return hose, I choose lower hose which will pump oil from transmission toward radiator (transmission oil cooler)
Hose is 14mm size secure it with ring and fasten properly
2. Run the engine between 15-20 seconds to push all oil out, don't run engine again until you done refilling
3. Connect again the hose to radiator and tighten the secure ring to ensure no leaks
4. Now disconnect upper hose and be ready with tools, same hose 14mm to connect to
5. Push as much as oil out
6.Tighten the hose and run the engine, check to ensure no leaks
7. Do Transmission Fluid Level Check as per above information
