Assistance getting stop start working...
Hi all
I'm trying to get my stop start working, please no comments about how it is or similar, had it on my last d4 and actually miss it sometimes, plus be good to figure out the problem.
I've measured he voltage on this battery below and it's showing 12.82V which to me seems ok?
My main battery is showing 12.41 volts.
The mechanic in the garage said it was common with two much paste on the connector but I cannot see where this may be? Any idea?
I'm not missing anything fuse wise am I?

If the battery has been flat at any point it probably needs the BMS resetting.
This can be done with an IID tool if you have one.
I'm fairly sure that is what's wrong with mine but I'm happy without it.D4 2016 Landmark, Waitomo Grey.

There is an application on SDD your dealer can do to find out what is inhibiting the stop/start. Not sure if you can do this with any other diagnostics though. Most common cause is battery capacity. But lots of other things can inhibit it working."OIL" - 1990 200tdi Defender 90

I have to leave the car on charge overnight to get the stop start to work again and then it lasts for a few days before repeating the exercise.
Seems once it stops working, no matter how many miles/hours the car is run, the stop start will only work again after an overnight charge with the ctex.
To add, there will be a constant drain from the tracker and the Blackvue camera which is on permanently

Funnily enough, got mine back from dealer after software update last week. S/S worked at the end of their drive but not again. had bonnet up today because the b****y battery cover will not fit properly. Undid the live terminal which looked secure but I thought it could go down a little more with a bit of persuasion.
Would you believe that the S/S works every time now even with a/c on low. This leads me to believe that a strong connection may be significant. Weird I know but that's how it is.

The voltage on your secondary battery looks fine, but the 12.41V on your cranking battery looks low to me. When i replaced my secondary battery, (it was fubared), we tried to reset the BMS with SDD, then AutoLogic - last attempt was with the IID, which worked and it's been fine ever since.
I'd suggest charging your cranking battery and then give your secondary battery a top up charge too D4 MY14 XXV - RLD/IID BT

This was the same with the D4 I have just PX'd, I actually unplugged the Blackvue to see if it made a difference but it didn't. I also used to get a lot of system messages along the lines of "Battery Low, Please Start Engine" Cheers Ian

Thanks all,
I spoke to dealer and he suggested to clear a paste away from connections but as far as i can see, there is no excess paste unless i am looking in the wrong place.
I think ill try charging the batteries and then book it in if it still doesn't play. Is it OK to charge crank battery while connected to the vehicle? I assume so but wanted to check MY2023 Discovery 5 R-Dynamic 3.0

Yes, fine to charge the cranking battery without disconnecting as long as you put +ve to +ve terminal and -ve to chassis ground and NOT -ve battery terminal.
I also charge my secondary battery in situ, and with that one, you can just connect directly to the battery. D4 MY14 XXV - RLD/IID BT

Well... Rang dealer to get a booking in in case charging doesn't work as they do get booked up. They suggested i phone LRA to get them to look. Little perplexed i queryed this but was insisted.
Rang LRA and they agreed that it was something they should look at, again repeated that the car was not broken down, fully driveable etc etc but still wanted to attend. So we shall see what happens.
Wondered if it was because of the CO2 legislation they have to meet or similar?MY2023 Discovery 5 R-Dynamic 3.0

AA attended on LRAs behalf. Felt sorry for the chap as they don't carry as,e diagnostic set up as the specialist LR AA guys. He checked on the Bosch system they carry and no obvious fault codes related.
He submitted report to Land Rover anyway so we shall see what happens now.MY2023 Discovery 5 R-Dynamic 3.0
