Whel the love of my life has had a bad day
phone call with a quivery voice telling me shes just put 12 quids worth of unleaded in
green flag sorted the drain out , she didnt start it up
ive put 40 quid of diesel in just to dilute any possible residues
green flag advise a service as a precaution , I think a fuel filter change will at least help
been looking for one on the bay
question is genuine or mahle
how different is the late model filters
cheers

im no expert but they used to use petrol back in the day to thin the diesel down in the winter, £12 is only just over 2 gallons so if the other 16 were full of diesel i doubt you'd have any problems.Range Rover Westminster 4.4 TDV8 what a car

With a modern high pressure common rail fuel system, even small amounts of petrol will strip lubrication away from the HPFPMy D3 Build Thread

I once "COUGH" Filled mine from 1/4 to the top with Petrol.........
I walked straight into the garage and bought 10 Litres of oil and poured it straight into the tank, that night i drove Newcastle to burn it off....... Filling with Diesel every 50 odd miles. It smoked a tad.
I did 135K in it after that. Ran it for the last 50K with added 2T.

When I was in the green skin, pull up a sandbag, we had been given two Ford Galaxys. One was diesel, the other petrol.
The inevitable happened and the diesel got miss fuelled, car was pushed down the road and the tank drained into the nearest gutter then refilled with the proper stuff, never ran better...
At another place we had a de-fuelling point to recover fuel from tanks before they went for base overhaul, one petrol and one diesel. Yet again someone decided to drain 1000 litres out of a Chieftain into the petrol tank. The only way we could sort it out was to fiddle the paperwork, good old handwritten chits and then 'loose' the bad fuel in a load of Stalwarts that were going for disposal, they ran but not very well and backfired quite a bit... De-Tango
V8 Brakes
EGRs blanked
Running boards
3 flash indicators and clock on dash
Blingy grille...
Filled mine from 1/4 to the top with Petrol.........

If you had filled the tank with petrol, how did you get the 10 litres of oil in?A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Stay Alive - KEEP AWAY FROM PEOPLE.

The oil went in and the fuel "Petrol" came out, presumeably the Oil was Heavier and slithered in ?
I chucked some sand on it though and kicked it about a bit on the forecourt to make it look like i was bothered, I omitted that from my earlier post as i thought a vegetarian Eco warrior would complain about polution and some things dying, But seeing as Syndneys trumped me i'll cough it. I think that was 09, and not long after that or about that time the misfueling thing really came to promemnace,
Funnyly enough i've never done it again.Only dead fish go with the Flow !

Dont forget and this is important if you know you have miss fuelled dont even turn the ignition on as the elec in tank pump will get busy pumping none lubricating petrol around your very very expensive fuel system.
Any common rail engine is just to expensive to take chances with and I reckon misfuelling is one of the biggest issues with 2nd hand diesels.
In the case of the op as the breakdown guy sucked out the dodgy fuel I wouldnt be doing anything.
The key never went back in so hopefully no petrol went through
but just in case 300 mls os 2so went in
just been to York and back to take my daughter back to uni , round trip of about 130 mls
seemed to be no different
