Upgrading seats and radio.
Hi everyone. I literally just joined this page. It's great to see everyone helping each other out with advice and tips etc. I have recently bought a 2007 Disco 3, S auto, commercial. It was in very poor mechanical condition so it's been quite a project getting it to where I currently have it, condition wise. Practically every major mechanical part under the bonnet has either been replaced or overhauled. Today I am getting the gear box and torque converter rebuilt which concludes (i hope ) all of the mechanical repairs. So my next task is to upgrade the spec to HSE or nearest to. I have black leather manual seats but I want to upgrade to HSE seats and I believe the wiring is already in place? Can anyone confirm this and if it is an easy enough job? Also I only have the basic single CD stereo system and I want to upgrade this too. Can this be done and again is it easy enough - plug and play easy? Thanks for reading my biography

I suspect it would be better to go for an aftermarket ICE system on this model.
The upgraded system has an amp under the drivers seat
and an LCD display up top of the dash.
and it's not worth the hassle of retro fit

As far as I know if you have a single CD stereo it's very hard to up grade.
Read this old post and do a few searches around those topics.
or to look for an aftermarket screen that will fit where the 4x4 screen normally goes
in the summer i intend to remove all the door panels and replace the speakers as well with pioneers , so i can measure them all to see what will fit
have found our local halfords centre to be very helpful, however when u ask them questions some of the sales staff start to get that glazed over look ,
i get really confused though with cross overs etc etc , so i've been. trying to read up what mine has and what i can replace it with

Thought it was the opposite
If you have a high spec model then :-
You loose the display unit and sat nav (unless you put the old unit somewhere else)
As there is an amplifier under the seat, this is where all the speaker wires originate, therefore you need to run new cables from the seat to the headunit. (the factory system has this link via optical fibre)
If you have a base model you don't have either of these problems.

Yes Pete K you are right with the highline you do lose use of the sat-nav screen as such as all the most signal is controlled by the head unit Discovery 3 se gone

Sorry i wasn't clear in my comments
I ment upgrading to the Discovery 6 CD unit is hard as the amp is missing. I didn't mean after market which looks to be the easiest.

Drop Narpy (Ian) a pm as he has done some quite wonderful things with his D3 including fitting aftermarket sat nav/tv screen and very good music system. He is a great bloke and would be only too happy to advise The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;
They just make the best of everything they have.

All is good Mark, just chilling with a few beers. Just got back from Wroclaw after a week working away. It's good to be back in the warmth and have a night in.
How's life at Aerial Towers been treating you?
