Cabin Climate Control problem
Hello,
When the outside temp is low (1°C) cabin starts to be heated (inside temps set to 20°C), and aprox one hours after, the air thrown in the cabin seems to be quite cold. If we want the temprature go up (we are "freezing"), i have to set up the temp to 25...after some time of heating, the air flow become cold once again...
Does someone already noticed this kind of problem ?

When the air temp in the car gets above the temperature you've set it, then it will try to cool it down to get again to the temperature you've set it.
When it happens like that, I tend to get the car up to temperature & then turn the AC off & only switch back on again if I'm getting cold.Bodsys Brake Bible

it is a pain though, I am not convinced about the climate controls ability to maintain temperature at all, it is OK on warm days but you are right that on cold days it is all over the place.2020 BMW X1 18d XDrive X-Line Auto
Try hitting the recirculation button. That way cabin air is used instead of fresh (cold) air. Did you think I would leave you crying,

I doubt that will make any difference, the temp sensor measures internal temp and delivers heated or cooled air to balance the temp against the setting on the dial. I think it is a quirk of climate control to be honest.2020 BMW X1 18d XDrive X-Line Auto

This sounds very like the problem I am having at the moment.
I can only get warmish air now if I put the climate control on max and it gets cooler the longer it's on. If I select anything below max the air is pretty cold. Have you noticed any problems with the coolant temperature? Mine takes an age to climb and never gets to normal, also noticed if put the heating on the coolant temperature decreases, after a 2 hour journey the engine was still cold too!
My car is going back into the dealership on Tuesday (they are keeping it to Friday) to sort the problem out. I believe that the problem might be to do with the thermostat.

The climate control system is programmed to deliver 'fresh' air to your face using the dashboard vents once the cabin is up to the set temperature. What this means is that warm air will be delivered through all vents until the cabin reaches the desired temperature, the upper vents then start to mix that warm air with coooler, fresher air from outside whislt the lower ones continue to deliver warm air.
It's all designed to stop you from going to sleep! Clever eh?
Trouble is though, in the winter it feels as though an icy blast is hitting your face and hands (though it isn't that cold really) and after a while, all the passengers complain so you turn up the temperature control to compensate.Now an ex-D3 owner after 7 happy years. Miss the car but not the big bills

yesterday, when i arrived at office, the outside temperature was aprox 5°C.
in the late afternoon, the sun had done it's effect, and the car had pretty hot air in the cabin.
When i fired the engine, the exterior temp sensor was still showing 5°C (an already reported problem), and the climate control started to deliver...hot air !!! instead of cooling the cabin.

My 2 previous Omega's had the best climate control I've ever had in a car. It just worked ..
Good job they stopped making them though, or I wouldn't be on this ........ ..............Somewhere in-between my old D3 and what's to come next .........

Cold weather does bring with it some points:
FBH comes on to speed warm up good
FBH fumes enter vehicle in slow moving traffic bad (had mod done - allegedly)
Heated seats excellent
using screen heater clears screen quickly esp with a/c good
using screen heater shows failed elements bad
climate control cannot maintain constant temp bad
sun on cold dash platics recent mornings has produced all sorts of cracks / squeaks bad
A potentially great car spoiled by minor, but irritaing , issues.

I've owned many vehicles with temperature control, and the LR3 is among the best, be it cold or hot. The Jeep Grand cherokee has infrared sensors to check the interior temperature, and it is perhaps the best I've had.
But I will say that the European cars I've owned, while very good in many other ways, have temp control as the greatest weakness. Perhaps this is because the temperature does not have the extemes in Europe as elsewhere, and this is the main market of course.
In cold, I think the LR3 is very good. I've had it to -10c. In warm, it over cools a bit, but works well. I've had it as warm as 44c.
On another thread someone complained about hot air blowing when it's already hot. All A/C vehicles do this to some extent, after all they start out with hot air in the system, and it needs to blow out.
