Torque Converter

Hi

Can anyone recommend a supplier for a LR3 TDV6 Torque converter?

I have a local garage willing to do the work but can only find a genuine Landrover unit at £1600 + VAT but they are happy for me to supply the part. It's a great local garage to me and been sorting my vehicles for past 17 years.

On another note anyone got anything against Miller Millermatic DM oil for the box?? It seems a shed load cheaper than the stuff LR recommend and Miller Oils recommend it for the LR3.

Cheers!

Hi mate.

I've got a quote from Dave Henwood - Fourwinds.

I've known Dave for years - top man and he always looks after my vehicles.

Who do you use??

Try Bristol Transmissions, they did mine for ~£1000 all in for an exchange unit. Smoooooooooooth as a smoooooooooth thing now with extra smooooooooooth. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

And get it sorted sooner rather than later or it'll need a gearbox rebuild at treble the cost.

Hi Jamie - I wish I could afford to - unfortunately my LR3 breaks down more often than a teenager at a Take That concert Crying or Very sad

I use a mix depending on where I am & what needs doing. Lots of experience on here to point you in the right direction for indies. Some things (like TCs) you'll pay treble in a LR dealer. For running an old D3 (like mine) getting the mix right is essential. Thumbs Up

Yes I agree. I've got a manual and touch wood it's been good to me. It's an 05 with 78k on the clock

Yes me too.

There's a few really good local indies around where I live and use them for stuff that needs their expertise. To be honest a TC replace is something any decent garage can do - I would attempt it myself with a lift and a few mates - gearbox weighs around 120 kilos!!

The gearbox has been flushed then mega flushed and New filter - still juddering. Dr Tranny helps but doesn't cure it - 3 tubes in. I need the Disco for my business so a new TC it is! Sad

I need it to last til October then chop it in for a Disco 4 - I hear they are more reliable.

Fuzz.

Re D4 reliability don't do a search on crankshaft failures. Whistle
