I live 6 minutes away from the UK side of the Channel Tunnel and there's very few issues on this side.
On the French side, immigrants are looking to get onto lorries. Jumping in the back of a lorry at a service station is infinitely easier than trying to squeeze into the back of my Discovery3, which will be full of ski gear and with two kids and irate wife and a father who is likely to get busy with a Maglite at the drop of a hat!
Just don't be stopping for diesel in the last 20 miles and you'll be fine.

Also, there are much nicer places to stay than the Folkestone Holiday Inn! If you're camping or in a motor home, the Drum Inn is perfect.

I'm not sure you can. I've been told it's pointless to get a clubcard now as I will never accrue enough points in time.

People sell points on ebay. Have a look there but they aren't cheap as many boost items are x4 and the tunnel is x3 so people bit more that your saving.
