Removing Ladder Before Selling
I have fitted a few ladders and know that the sticky pad is really sticky but never taken one off. Does anyone know if the it leaves the paintwork stained or needing restoration? Talking to a chap about purchasing my D4 and he wouldn't want the ladder on it
The pad that the top sits on :

try something like this http://amzn.eu/glNdFnO or WD40 also works. takes a lot of elbow grease to get it all off. worth also getting a plastic scraper

I found that WD40 works best of all by heating the glue up with a hot air paint stripper (half heat) and then rubbing the glue with mutton cloth (also soaked in WD40).

Thanks guys
The cars not very old so hopefully removing bits like this wont be too much hassle.
The chap is having a think about the purchase anyway, loved it but think he needs to convince his wife as I was pretty open about running costs, maybe need to find a more experienced discovery 3/4 owner to buy it MY06 S - Gone but not forgotten

Taken a couple off now and the sticky pad is exactly that...it's super strong and you have to be really brutal with it to break the seal......but worry not as the ladder will come away and leave the sticky pad behind..... which in a way protects the paintwork.... you can then remove the pad in the ways as described above!
When I took mine off the pad stuck to the ladder.A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Stay Alive - KEEP AWAY FROM PEOPLE.

When I pulled my well used ladder off, it came with the pads and left no Mark at all. RDR does selling the D4 mean there's a Volvo on its way?Mantec sump guard.
Prospeed tree slider/steps.
Flack duel battery system.
18"Compomotive/AT3 tyres
Brembo 4pot front brakes
