Help!wife has broken down and I'm miles away!! Liverpool |
|
Just received a phone call from the wife 'this car has broken down!
I'm currently in work ( military) 280 miles away
From her description - she was waiting at the lights awaiting the green filter to turn when she could hear a belt screeching or just screeching from engine, engine juddered and she managed to make the turn and travel a hundred metres down the road then the engine cut out with battery warning light , she got it started again but batttery warning light stayed on and has lost power steering , engine runs but no steering with battery light on
AA guy has just told her the water pump has colapsed
I now need to find a garage as iv got a pick up coming within the hour and they are going to take it to a Halfords garage and told her they are normally 'very busy'
Anyone reccomend a garage in Liverpool to take it too??
I have aa cover and they will pay the first £500

Yeah, LR Centre at Speke has a pretty good reputation. Have it taken there.
Halfords won't have a scooby, LR Centre will know all about that failure and how to fix it.
They are at L24-9HB and their number is 0151-486-8636.
Good luck. Mods:

Picked up alternator pulley damaged after a bolt sheared on the bracket holding the alternator
As I was getting the aa to cover the first £500 I might aswell get a new alternator so that was replaced
Along with the tentioner pulley and three bolts

Unsure if it's related lads but after the d3 is sat on the drive all night
Wife starts which it does fine however after trying to take the parking brake off
Revs start die and a amber parking brake light comes on
Parking brake releases then everything goes back to normal?
Would this be the parking brake module or the battery not having enough amps for the epb to release?

This only happens after it's been parked up over night? Not after it's been driven during the day

That sounds like your brake shoes are sticking to the inside of the disc.
Strip, service and adjust the rear shoes and it should be ok. Mods:

I was originally thinking it was something to do with the brake down as
The epb has been fine before it broke down
