Steering Angle Sensor
Anyone had issues with the steering angle sensor ? Car was driving fine a few weeks back then i started getting serious "juddering" of the front wheels after starting the car when i first move off. 2 Amber warning lights come on, "special programmes not available" message comes on then 'suspension lowered" message and a 3rd amber light comes on BUT the car does not go into limp mode.
Local garage diagnostics said "steering angle sensor fault" so i bought a used one (supposedly in full working order) off ebay had it replaced but still the same problem.
I am reluctant to take it to the LR garage who want 400 bucks to replace the sensor (but no guarantees it will fix the fault). As most of you LR3 owners i had serious water issues in the passenger side stair well so i am wondering could this be an electrical fault rather than a mechanical failure.
Once all of the alarms are on and the suspension is lowered, the car drives fine with no special programmes available so i suspect the electrics/computer

You must have the steering angle sensor recalibrated once fitted.
This tells the car where straight ahead is and the car sets up all the other parameters around that setting. Failure to recalibrate will give all the warnings and bells and whistles you're experiencing.
From your location, you should PM forum member Beanie ( he is near you ) and ask him to recalibrate your sensor. He has the required epuipment and it only takes a a few seconds to complete then go from there and see what happens.

Thanks for your input - i should have said that the sensor was properly calibrated after it was fitted (by Landrangers in Middlewich the 4x4 specialist) with their diagnostic tool but as soon as i took it for a drive it was out of calibration which is why i suspect an electrical fault.

You might find that it's slipped on the steering column? I had the same symtons and after using double sided tape (they stuff they use to hold rear view mirrors on with) and a recalibration, it's behaved ever since.

Landranger have a very, very good reputation, you should trust them to resolve this for you if they fitted the steering angle sensor that is now playing up.
