[Wanted] 2004-2006 Discovery 3 - Black/Grey - UK £9500 |
|
As close to Gloucestershire as possible
130k MAX as long as the price is right
Black or Grey or maybe that orange (if that was available on the D3)
Manual or Auto
SE or HSE or S similar spec (as long as it has leather)
Must have black leather
TDV6 but may consider petrol V8 if everything else matches what I want
Belts done
Good service history
Tidy condition
Tyres with decent life left (knackered tyres considered as long as price reflects)
Basically I'm just looking for a genuine vehicle that's been looked after.
I have £9500 MAX waiting for the right vehicle with the better side of 100k miles, I will consider up to 125-130k but the engine must be sweet and the price must be right.

Honestly if Discoverys in general were bullet proof then I'd have no problem paying more but as it is I'm reluctant to spend much more as there's always this unknown factor of something expensive breaking on me.

I've just sold a 2005 Navara D40 that I've had for nearly 4yrs and all it ever wanted was a set of tyres and windscreen wipers when I first bought it and that's it, not even a single build needed replacing (apart from basic yearly services with no extra work being carried out). My point is the Navara is bullet proof so for that sort of reputation I'd easily push my budget but from what I've read the Discoverys are a mixed bag at most with trend towards poor reliability and expensive repairs! I'm not well informed enough about Discoverys so I'd struggle to push my budget much and remain too comfortable.

No problem. if that's how you feel about them though reconsider buying a disco 3.
I won't let my 2004 se manual in bonatti grey, full black leather with 78,000 miles on the clock go for £8500.

Fair enough. To be honest for an £8500 budget I'm looking more 95-110k miles. I'd love to have the confidence to be comfortable paying more as there are some really nice examples out there, it's just the whole unknown factor that's holding me back. I looked at one a couple of days ago, '06 SE, manual, black, leather etc for £6500, mind you it had 130k on it but even on idle it stank of oil and diesel so I left it. That was at a dealer so i figure I'd happily pay £8500 for a private sale with decent service history. I have another vehicle currently so I'm in no real rush but I have the cash waiting for when the right one comes along.
Feel free to give me the details of yours though if you want because you never know.

Mines currently at LR (LR maintained) for a new rear propshaft and rear wiper motor. Also in for front and rear ARB's next month.
Good luck with your search I have no doubt the right one will come along.

Is that from a LR dealer? What warranty would you get with it?

Thanks. At this early stage I really need to try and find a lower tax bracket version.
