hey folks, picked up a new disco graphite just before christmas and having driven it to the alps and back I have decided that the side steps that came with the vehicle are 'a right pain in the backside' Not least because every time anybody gets out of the car they drag their leg on the step and get covered in dirt. They were far from ideal in the snow either as then would get clogged with ice and snow and become very slippery.
so my question is , can I simply undo the bolts that are holding them in place. Is an easy exercise, will it leave visible holes, should I put the bolts back in the holes after removing them - is it more hastle than its worth and just get used to the steps being there?
thanks.

If they're the type with aluminium strips along the side, there will be two sets of cut outs in the plastic trim at the base of each side. The steps are held in place by a dozen or so nut and bolts and don't present a problem. You'll need new plastic trim x 2 Never take life too seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway.

If people are dragging their leg over them then they are not standing on them!
There will be three biggish holes left in each cill if you remover them. A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Stay Alive - KEEP AWAY FROM PEOPLE.

Money for old rope there. If you can undo poppers on a dress then you can remove and refit sills as that is all that holds them in place. What might be a major factor though is the cost of a new set of sills !! A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. Ask on here if anyone has a spare set. The design and fitting are the same for D3 and D4. I know as I've transferred a set from D3 to D4. Never take life too seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway.

Or see if somebody without steps wants steps and you could swap trims with a little extra cash in your pocket.

Try and find somebody on here wanting steps and swap them over including their uncut sill covers. Did the same with mine with a forum member on here. Took about an hour to swap but yours should be easier as its newer and less likely to have seized bolts .The bolt/thread holes in your sills are just covered with round sticky tape pads to keep the sh*te out
Only put steps on mine while the missus is preggers, will be ditching them when the little one arrives. Hopefully for some sliders
