Car not starting
Yesterday evening came to start my D3, following messages and starter would not respond :-
Park brake auto release not functioning
Transmission fault - limited gears available
HDC fault - system not available
Park brake fault
Did a Forum search and checked fuse 30 & found it had blown. Replaced it and it blew immediately with smoke coming from back of engine . That stopped after fuse blown, but disconnected battery to be safe. Is it likely to be the suppression box I have seen mentioned? Unfortunately where car is parked it is difficult to get to. Any other suggestions please. The back of battery area looks dry and its done 134K miles.

I've read about it too, but ages ago. i'm sure it's bolted to the gearbox somewhere and if you disconnect it then then fuse should not blow? Good luck.Stu

Thanks for the offer, decided to have it shipped by AA to Steve Reeks in Malvern for him to have a look at it, much easier on a 4 poster than a puddle on my drive.

Just had a phone call to say car ready to be collected, it was the gearbox capacitor (LRO20488) smoking , so fortunately not a wiring fault.
