MY15 - MY16 Differences

I'm currently looking at buying a HSE Luxury.

I am looking at two vehicles.

one is a 2015 on a 15 plate the other is a 2016 on a 65 plate.

The 2015 has everything I'm looking for including a locking rear diff. The 2016 doesn't have the rear locking diff or exterior detection pack.

When did the MY16 come out and what are the main differences and any advantages between the two model years?

Any help would be gratefully appreciated. Thumbs Up

The MY16 came out around August 2015.

The main difference is the move to a Euro 6 engine and the introduction of AdBlue. Other than that, the optional rear aircon was no longer an option and I think it was at that time that the spare wheel became standard.

I can look that one up tonight.

My feelings about the discontinuation of the Discovery, in August 2016, are pretty well known! I shall leave that one there Wink

I'd say get the 2015 as you benefit from the same reduction in RFL but none of the faff with the adblue system.

Aside from emissions the ad blue system gives you nothing over a MY15, both cars exactly the same in terms of power, economy, gearbox, etc., only difference is you won't be left stranded with no adblue and the car shutting itself down Smile

(in all fairness whilst MY15 and MY16 are precisely the same RFL wise right now, there's nothing to say the gov't won't change that later...)

Mine is a 2016 HSE and was built on 4th December 2015. The switch to Landmark/Graphite was in January 2016.

I have had both and whilst there is no difference on paper between the engines, the Adblue engine definitely runs smoother, with seamless gear changes. As for Adblue being a faff, depends on how lazy you are I suppose. Filling the Adblue tank once a year is hardly a faff and the vehicle gives you plenty of warnings before it wont let you drive it.

I didn't notice any difference between the dealer my16 and my my15, as there are no documented changes I'd suggest maybe just the gearbox learning or similar.

Just a thought. Thumbs Up

Having owned MY14, MY15 & MY16 D4's, I can categorically say my MY16 with DEF (Adblue) feels significantly more powerful than the previous engines. It really does.

The gearchange is also even smoother, as others have already stated.

All "mapping" I suppose, but it would be interesting to get a dynamometer reading.

Not sure. There was a definate improvement in the MY16 though in terms of gear changes and engine refinement (less diesel clatter).
