Given the very bad press diesels are getting then having a Euro 6 rather than Euro 5 engine could be that little bit better received as time passes.
I thought I was told the AdBlue reduced the levels/extent of EGR needed, and that in my mind is a big plus, well worth the "faff" of letting LR top it up at each service.

Has anyone got anything other than anecdotal proof?
I've tried MY16 against MY15 and noticed zero difference - no diesel clatter from my engine at all and not noticed anything smoother about power delivery or gearbox either - would be good to know if they made any changes or whether it's just placebo/new car effect.
At the end of the day the Adblue simply squirts pig wee in to the exhaust system pre-catalyst so can't make any changes to how the engine behaves our sounds.... either way it could only be a map but then when I asked I was told there's no differences by the dealer
I reckon it's just those with MY16s trying to convince themselves the added complexity was worth it
Wonder how we could find out categorically - would be good to know for sure. MY15 DIY Black Pack (Better than factory and half the price!)

You probably won't. I had a MY15 and waxed lyrical on this forum about it saying how smooth it was and even dumbing down those who suggested the MY 16 was a smoother beast. Until I got one that is. There is a discernible difference. I reckon it's just those with MY15s trying to convince themselves the added complexity is missing in their lives.

I got rear aircon instead to make up for it - nothing like an extra set of controls, looms, sensors and compressors to ensure sustained reliability.... MY15 DIY Black Pack (Better than factory and half the price!)

I wasn't happy about the additional "AdBlue", seeing it as yet another add on to go wrong. I'm still not sure about it, but accept that the Euro 6 spec. does reduce pollutants and selfishly I could benefit in the future if I still own it. I did over 20k miles from new my MY14 & 15, they both felt the same.
I've just gone over 10k miles in my MY16. Straight away I noticed the gearbox was smoother, which was surprising as all of the Discos I've had since 2006 have had great gearboxes. I started "using" the power more from 7k miles and there really is a very noticeable difference in comparison to my previous D4's. It really does seem more powerful.
I've no explanation for this, other than an assumption that the "mapping" is different. I'd like to know though. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

And what's even more odd about that LT was that there were gearbox mapping changes from MY14 to MY15 which did make them different whereas there's been no reports of similar for MY16.
You're right - would be good to do that or even get a few MY15 and MY16 cars together and drive them back to back. I noticed no difference MY15 to MY16 but maybe this was due to the MY16 car not being running as well? or Gearbox learning? Or maybe my MY15 has whatever mapping it is they applied to MY16 (it's a late MY15)....
... who knows... don't suppose it really matters that much - we can always all go off to BAS and get 300bhp+ and better fuel economy to boot if we care that much! MY15 DIY Black Pack (Better than factory and half the price!)

I've never wanted for more power or smoothness in any of my D4's. I did get the D3 re-mapped at 1k miles though.
It's a bit of a mystery with the AdBlue D4's but others here report similar differences, so there must be something in it.
