Hi All,
I'm wondering how easy it will be to retrofit Front Fogs to a MY08 D3 HSE? I've got Adaptive Headlights, and cornering lights, but the cornering lights are pretty useless and annoying and where I live we have loads of fog which would make fog lights more useful!
Can I just swap the cornering light units for fogs and plug straight in? I understand that fog connections should be on all looms? I'll obviously need to enable via the nanocom then.
I assume I can't fit a combined fog/cornering/drl unit such as offered for the D4, or can I?
Any help would be appreciated.

But an HSE would have front fogs as standard. ( your gallery shows a D3 with them fitted) D3 owned from new, P017 brake recall, BAS FBHIC, new FBH, LR013487 oil pump, new water pump. RRS front lower suspension arms. New suspension compressor/ relay. New Denso alternator. CuNifer rear brake pipes. New GKN rear propshaft. New HPFP belt & tensioner. New A/C Condenser.NO WARRANTY for many many years.

You'd have thought that, wouldn't you. So did I. But no light on dash illuminates when I pull it out.
I guess AFS deletes fogs and adds cornering lights.
The D3 in my gallery is my old one, which did indeed have fogs Alex Threlfall (Nanocom Evolution Owner)

AFS does not delete fogs, my SE has AFS with the cornering lamps and fogs. 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

Have you got a single or double pull light switch?
i.e. one fog lamp symbol on it or two?
An HSE should have basically everything on it, unless it was a special order with unusual spec. 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

Double pull, which is odd. No light on the dash on first pull.
CCF says disabled / not fitted for Front Fog Lights (but also says 100% of cars have this) Alex Threlfall (Nanocom Evolution Owner)

The fog lamp function is not computer controlled so it makes no difference what the CCF says. I suppose it might alter whether the instrument pack displays the warning lamp.
Check you have a fuse fitted in F38 - should be 15A.
This is fed from the front fog switch and after the fuse goes to the front lamps and to the dash.
Not a complicated retrofit as far as I can recall, it has been detailed here before. The holes to cut are marked behind the bumper IIRC. 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

That's F38 in the glove box fuse box, not engine bay. 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

Cheers, will have a look. I suspect the cut out will be the same as that for the cornering lights. Alex Threlfall (Nanocom Evolution Owner)

Er, where do you think the cornering lights are?
They are integrated into the headlights, in the side light cavity.
If you have lamps in the bumper, they are fogs and it sounds like you just have a blown fuse. 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

Ah, OK, they looked different from the fogs on my MY05, I'll check out that fuse then Would certainly explain why there's no light on the dash then. Alex Threlfall (Nanocom Evolution Owner)

Not handy, but just had a look and indeed you are correct, F38 is blown. And what a f%$&ing stupid place to put the fuse box BTW Argh!
Best order myself another 15A fuse, and then find the blown bulb... Alex Threlfall (Nanocom Evolution Owner)

Blown bulb possibly, but quite a common problem on these, is that the wiring loom can chafe on the metalwork behind the bumper, causing the fuse to blow, unless you or the previous owner has had the forethought to protect the wiring where it chafes. D3 owned from new, P017 brake recall, BAS FBHIC, new FBH, LR013487 oil pump, new water pump. RRS front lower suspension arms. New suspension compressor/ relay. New Denso alternator.
