Won't start after fitting new battery |
|
After having problems with the old original LR Battery I decided to get a new one (100AH 900A), charged and fitted it yesterday. When turning the key, the dash lights etc come on. AC, Radio and SatNav are not turning on despite having 12.5V on the battery. Tried to jump-start with a running Disco 4, same problem.
When trying to start the car, I'm only getting a single "CLICK", presumably from the starter. Whenever I've had problems with the battery previously, it would click a few times until i let off the key.
Any ideas? '05 LR3 4.4L V8 SE - Java Black

worth looking at the big fuses under the bonnet then, if things aren't working.

Checked all of the bigger fuses (30+ a) and they all seem to be fine '05 LR3 4.4L V8 SE - Java Black

Okay, so I checked the fuses for the HVAC and Entertainment and both were blown. I've had the sunroof leaking the day before in heavy rain. May that be the cause? Just checked with the IID Tool and I'm still getting an error "U0155 - Lost communication instrument cluster control module". Checked both Instument fuses ( 39&68 ) on the passenger side, both are okay.
I've read in other forums about a leaking sunroof shorting / corroding some connectors. What connectors should I check? '05 LR3 4.4L V8 SE - Java Black

Hi acirema,
I had similar problems with mine few months ago, it was the black cable from battery to the mass point bolt below the fuse box in the engine bay that was loose and sent a lot of false inputs to the various systems of the car, including a no crank issue with an horrible click and all dark on the dash...
With the help of a friend mechanic, in the box where the car was stuck, the bonnet open, no light in the box, me at the controls and my friend close to the battery side, while trying to start the engine he saw a spark coming from below the fuse box close to the battery.
After a thorough clean up and the right tension on the bolt all the problems were solved.
I don't have the sunroof on mine.
In the engine bay close to the passenger side below the windshield there are two electronic control modules one on another with the connectors placed in the upper part which have the tendency to build up some moisture and need be kept clean on a regular maintenance schedule..
Cheers, Gianni
