Battery
Hi
My battery has stopped holding its charge even though I use a ctex. Ran the burner this morning and battery was flat. Drove 50 miles yesterday with no faults.
On a 60 plate and original so will swop for a new one. Exide 1000 seems to be the one from tayna £88 plus postage . I don't have a iic so can I get away with just replacing?
Thanks

I just replaced the original Varta in my 10 plate with an Exide AGM EK950 (https://www.tayna.co.uk/EK950-Exide-Start-Stop-AGM-Car-Battery-017-P9443.html) £150 delivered - there are discount codes knocking around.
Looking round AGMs seem to be the recommended battery of choice for D4s, especially if you make use of the FBH timed/remote climate, or if you do mainly short journeys
I have an IID but didn't need to change anything. I did reset the BMS though which is advisable whatever the new battery.

Thanks Phillip
What is the difference. The original is not AGM and is £60 more. Apologies don't know the difference

I'm no expert, but AGMs I understand are designed for start stop technology where batteries have to recover far more quickly and generally be more resilient than normal lead acid batteries.
D4s make use of a lot of battery draining electronics, and coupled with short journeys where the battery never fully recovers from the drain of cold cranking, they make sense. Even more so if you use the FBH to pre-warm the block and the cabin.
I understand they are LR standard fitment on D4s from about 2011.
