Engine management light - Cost to blank EGRS?
Good afternoon.
Light came on yesterday, temperature between -1 & -4. Amber light not red.
SWMBO then says that happened twice to me.
Didn't think of telling me - but again in cold temperatures & from memory she said minus numbers.
She said it went off after she'd parked up for a while.
However no lose of power / performance in anyway.
It is a MY9.5 SE.
Any views etc welcome.
Have just called the AA - so at least they can read the fault codes
Thanks in advance

I suspect egr valves as the usual suspect. Intermittently coming on as they start to stick.
Blank them out with a software update.
I could do that for you on Tuesday as I'm out in that direction if that helps?Bodsys Brake Bible

Thanks guys,
Yep - P045C - P0490 codes
The AA man - met several times since on the Discovery
Diagnosed EGR fault before plugging in.
Bodsy thank for the offer but i have one hell of week at work coming up.
I have AA BRC - so may just claim on that.
Just thinking out loud what the cost approx in getting them blanked?

If you get new EGR valves fitted get them blanked straight away! I had this done when the car was 4 years old (on 2nd load or valve replacements), now 10 1/2, and have not had any EGR issues, apart from fault codes, since. OK with a 2009 it's a bit more complicated but not insurmountable.

Why fit new valves and then blank them?- just blank the old ones, 2/3 hour fiddly job for an amateur. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Agreed but if the warranty co is going to fit them then get them fitted. More new shiny bits on the car the better.

Morning all,
AA BRC agreed to cover EGR valves.
Local Indy quoted me - £690 all in to replace and blank.
Meaning I pay £190 (AA BRC only covers first £500)
Or £100 for him to just blank the old ones?
Now being honest I am completely useless with any tool / spanner.
Is £100 a good price?
Thanks again in advance

Replace and blank?
Why don't the repairing garage "replace" them for the £500 from the warranty company My D3 Build Thread

Hi
Should have been clearer.
Indy total cost to replace both EGR & Blank £= £690
AA pay £500 me pay £190
OR
Without AA claim
£100 just to blank.
I have no idea of what's involved - i am useless Learning everyday!

£100 to blank seems cheap as it will also require a software change.D3 HSE 57 Buckingham Blue
