How toGuide for Tow Electrics

Need to install my tow electrics. I presume it's obvious enough once I have removed the rear passenger light but are there any good guides/videos out there that will prevent me from doing something stupid?

I haven't found much in my searching.

Thanks in advance,

What brand electrics pack is it? PDFs of the relevant fitting instruction appear pretty easily in Google. For example: http://www.towbarsdirect.co.uk/images/37190504RC.pdf

Edit/: Also found the LR one on Topix https://topix.landrover.jlrext.com/topix/c...oupId=1671

If it's a genuine LR one, make sure it's the right one for your car - there are at leas 2 different part numbers depending on year. I think there are only subtle differences but you do need the right one.

To do it properly and fit all the support clips in the right place needs the rear bumper off. You can fit one without all the clips in the right place and just use some extra cable ties without removing the bumper. Thumbs Up

It's easy enough but the Landrover o es want you to remove the rear bumper and fit the mounting plate. That's a load of faff and you don't need to. You can feed the loom through with the bumper on, just wrap some padding around the loom so it does not rattle around

First and foremost, thanks for the Topix links. No idea that even existed.

The parts are genuine LR. Reading off the labels I think the part No.s are:

273674100 Trailer Link
273674000 Trailer Link
273877020 Trailer Towing

Car is a 2012 HSE.

I'm not going to bother removing the bumper and will address this with cable ties.

Thereafter I believe this should be plug and play but that I will need to manually deactivate the parking sensors when in use until such time as I get my Indy to update the software. I only want it for occasional bike rack use so I can live with the Parking Sensor issue in the interim.

Takes 30m at most, easy to do, did it on my last one and just got the software updated on the next service

I completed the task yesterday and it took the best part of a hour at a slow pace but it was straight forward enough. I did a little jig when all the lights worked as planned and nothing went bang.

Although for a Disco3 this video helped so I'll leave it here for others should they search and come across this thread in future.

One final question from me, when it comes to cable tieing the wires to the car are there any parts underneath that I want to pay particular attention to? Right now I have a few inches of slack which doesn't concern me but perhaps it should if it's touching something that could cause damage.
