Check your nuts

Since getting SWMBO her own D4 a few weeks ago she hated the 17inch wheels on the car as these had the full winter tyres on, so promptly found a set of 20inch RR sport wheels that look a bit like mine, anyway had them refurbed and a nice new set of rubber the same as what came on mine, well yesterday I swapped the wheels over for her and low and behold I found I had 3 swollen nuts on each corner, Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad luckily enough it did not cause to much of a problem as I managed to get them off, Very Happy Very Happy but will have to pop round to the stealers and order a set tomorrow. Sad Sad
So as I have have not seen anything for a while on here I thought it might be a timely reminder to new members who are not aware to go out and check their nuts, especilly if the car is new to you and you have not changed the wheels before.
The last thing you want is to get stuck in the dark fumbling around with your nuts somewhere you don't know. Laughing Laughing

An early 2010 D4. Its very tight though, suppose you can squeeze a piece of paper between the calliper and wheel. Laughing Laughing

Good call on the locking nuts DSL Thumbs Up Thumbs Up , did not think of that as we don't really do them over here, wheel theft is really quite a rarity here.

Well I was lucky I suppose, 23mm did the trick with a little bit of a whack with a hammer, just on enough to crack the nut off on all 12, even though the new wheels are fitted did them up enough to move the car about as SWMBO does not need it as she is off for a few more weeks, give me time to get a new set.

They tend to fail and are a complete PITA to get off after that. Plus never heard of one case of the wheel being stolen off the hub. When it's so ridiculously easy to nick the spare why would the crims go to the hassle/risk of lifting the car?

Checked my nuts today and found one of them is too big to fit a 22mm socket on it.
Should/could I just change one or should I get a new set in anticipation of the rest swelling up also.
