Just in case the battery dies and you have to move the car

It's on a RRS, but the Discovery should be similar

Can't you disconnect the battery? - this would eliminate any drain and it is a requirement with a lot of storage companies to eliminate a source of fire ignition.
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Just make sure the emergency lock works to get back in to pop the bonnet. Thumbs Up

Or you could just keep one of these in the car. They run on Lithium ion, so will stayed fully charged for literally months...

I have one, and have jumped both a 2.7l D3 and a 5l BMW M5.

Some good tips there.

Leave bonnet open.
Leave doors unlocked.
Park it so you can get access to the front and left door.

If you can't get power in the garage disconnecting the battery will ensure it will start when you return and be kind to the battery.

NOCO Engine starter.....cost quite a bit but so far starting some quarry machine engines (large ones)
https://no.co/gb150
superb piece of kit. Charges to 100% very quickly of a USB port...
Now kept in my working tool bag.
NOCO also make C--Tek like battery chargers ....

Has anyone got one of these ?
SYBS in Leeds tell me these are selling the same numbers as C-Tek
 BREXIT - done properly.
Right now ...We need Government - not Politics
Save the Dipstick Flagbearer-keep it simple, less likely to fail campaign-agenda items:Starting Handles, Acetylene Lamps.
Founder: Dipsticks-R-Us Inc
D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.

I've got a Sealy version of the same - starts the car OK but usually leaves her with her knickers in a twist and I then have to do a vehicle reset to sort it.

Point of note - IID reset doesn't work in this instance, had to be a manual joining of the leads. Whistle

wouldn't a simpler option be to keep a second, charged battery in the car, with some jump leads, in case you need it - it'll probably be fine, but you're covered if not and have a backup battery for future use.....

LOL thanks guys!
I am sure if the battery dies, I can open the D3 by using the key manually. There is enough room in the garage to bring in triple A to boost it up with a battery booster. Thinking of getting a friend to turn it on, let it warm up and rev it for about 10mn or so, every 2 weeks, this has helped keep the battery alive till I get back in the past.

Or fit an Aux battery in the 2nd battery tray and a good split charger system... One push of a button and my aux battery connects to the main for jump starting...
