How many miles from a set of Wranglers?

OK, was going to work this out but never used Wranglers so thought I'd ask the obvious questions.

A) What tread depth do they start with?

B) How many miles do peeps get and down to what tread depth?

That info will let me work out how much life I've got in them. They started at 6mm (second hand) so the above info will let me do the maffs. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

i had 2 sets on my old D2 and got over 40k from each, new they were 8mm and were changed at 2mm
(I know, I know!!) so 6m = 40k mile.

Not the same car and I do drive like miss daisy most of the time so not sure how this will help.

ISTR i got silly mileage out of the first set of tyres on my D2, just short of 50k. 8mm is good to know, will do the maffs based on 26k from 8mm, assuming Dave's been good and changed at 3mm. Similar to Scorps then. Thumbs Up

Bow down Bow down to you both. Thumbs Up

PS, right 26k changed at 3mm means 5.2k/mm, assuming 6mm left (only done 1,500 mikes on them) changing at 3mm will give me 15,600 miles which will take me to next spring. Then ATRs or AT3s. Mr. Green Mr. Green

Put a couple of part worn on the rear that had approx 6mm - lasted for 21000 miles. (Now technically just legal)

Fronts didn't last as long.

Thumbs Up

Can always tell yourself that it's safer to replace at 4mm?

Very Happy Thumbs Up

Is this on your 3 or your 4? My 4 is on Scorpions, but my 3 was in them too. The 3 was lucky to get 25k from a set. The 4 is much better on its tyres. Now on 70k, and still has 50% left on second set. I reckon I'm getting 40k per set.

Our D4 came with Wranglers new this time, really impressed we are at 34,000 and the rears are still good. The fronts will need renewing in next few months.

The Pirelli Scorpions that came on our previous Disco barely made 20k

I can measure the spare depth as we ordered a full size and it's never touched tarmac

I'm not brave enough to tell SWMBO that, my health & safety would be in danger. Whistle

Good point indeed Gareth, it's the D4. Got a complete new set of 18" ATRs in the garage for the D3 plus what's on the car so probably 60 - 70k worth there, more than the life left in the car.

To balance out mileage for the year over the two (11k each) am looking to take the D4 to North Cape in July, otherwise the D4 would only be doing 5k miles this year. I was just wondering what the tyres would be like at the end of that jolly. Thumbs Up

I found that the Wranglers on my previous D3 became very noisy and started to tramline badly at 3mm. Last D4 had scorps on which I changed for ATRs. The current D4 has done 15k so far on the Wranglers fitted from new and looks to have about 3.5mm all round. I really dislike them though so will be changing them for ATRs at some point next year.

Can't say how long they last as I put some on my D4 when purchased second hand a few months ago. When new they had 9mm tread

My tears have done 7k miles and are down to 8mm so I am expecting a fair few miles out of them although I expect the fronts to wear quicker
