CB (Citizen Band) radio system fitting in the D3

Hello,

For offroading with friends, and driving long distance, i'd like to install a CB radio system.

As there are plenty of you who did a lot of installations in there D3, i'm wondering if someone already installed this kind of system in his, and if he could tell me a few things like :

- Where is it installed in the car ?
- What kind of antenna and where is it installed ?

And of course, a few pics would be wonderfull.

Thank you !

Sam

I have my CB unit fitted in the centre console box (no cool box on mine) the wiring runs under the carpet to the rear and the aerial is mounted to the roof rails

My antenna (Thunderpole orbiter) is in the same place, although mounted to the Expo Rack at present pending some fettling. I'll mount in the same way as CFB, then the antenna can be mounted with or without the rack in place. Head unit (Team ME4) sits between the passenger seat and the centre console and stays there through any terrain without shifting. Power is taken from the middle seat accessory socket on the rear of the centre console. Haven't got any pics at the mo, but will sort that out in the next week or two.

I'm probably going to change the orbiter for the shorter version (thunderpole trucker?) as the orbiter whips around all over the place when offroad. I nearly decapitated some walkers on the Wilts trip Embarassed

NoDo$h and CFB - can you tell me where you found (or how you made) the antenna bracket that mounts in your rails? I'm having a heck of a time sourcing anything that looks like it would reasonably work! I appreciate it!

Everything you need here: http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic14267.html?highlight=m12

Basically an M12 bolt and a steel plate and you're sorted.

Thumbs Up
