Is this a user modification

Hi,

On my D3 I have two plastic prongs sticking out of the drivers door hinge.

Is this a proper thing or is it a user mod? It sort of stops the door slamming, but I can't really see the use in it myself. Also the door want stay 'open' as it doesn't seem to get to the point where it 'latches' open. Could it be this thing is the cause?

There isn't one on any of the other doors.

All help appreciated

Ian

No, it's knackered! That's the plastic coating peeling away.

It's a check strap rather than a hinge, loads on eBay.

Yes. I'm guessing you will have to take the door trim panel off, undo the two bolts on the door post, and undo the 2 nuts in the door, then swap it from inside the door.

Looks simple enough for a diy Thumbs Up

Front door check strap Pt. Nº BDH780070 around £26.

Need to remove the door card and the speaker. Access to strap via hole left by speaker.
