2004 Discovery- skankey and bobbley steering wheel
Dear All
Looking for some advise. I have a 2004 Discovery TDV6. It's an HSE with beige leather and a black plastic like steering wheel. The plastic has gone skankey and bobbley where it's perished over the years and i would really like to replace it.
I am looking to find out what is the best way to do this, i don't want to upgrade it as such just keep it original but a nice new one like it would have originally looked.
I know there is a lot of electronics in the unit but i was hoping a lot of that could be transferred but maybe that is not the case. I see they sell a few on ebay etc.. but most don't look genuine and I wasn't sure if these are any good etc..
If anyone can suggest what to do and where to buy that would be very much appreciated.
Best regards
Rich

It's a HSE, so it had the leather wheel, but hand cream over the years etc trashes the leather. I have one in good condition you can have for £40, can get pics tomorrow Altox GSM FBH controller thread

Hi guys, thanks for quick response. I do mean the steering wheel itself and not the plastic bit towards the center. Yes it's an HSE. Thinking about it you must be right guess it is leather but just feels plastic like from the years of hand gunk on it. Beanie If you have a nice one that would excellent please do share a photo. Many thanks in advance. Rich

Try leather cleaner, a clean cloth and keep apply cleaner on a fresh area of the cloth. You'll be amazed at how quick the cloth goes black. If the leather is intact you'll eventually get the grain back and a non shines wheel.

I've become an expert at replacing wheels over the last 4 weeks so if you need a hand and can get over to Essex, I'm more than happy to help.
