Easiest thing to do is rule out the wheel and tyre configuration by borrowing a set of known good wheels for a quick drive. I'm sure many members on here have second sets of wheels and somebody must be reasonably close.

If still present assess at different revs and driveline loads I.e. Different gears and states of acceleration.

Pulsing or similar could indeed be driveline but should be easily ruled out looking at different driveline loads.

One other symptom I've noticed, although I could be mistaken, is that it's slightly rhythmic. It will make the noise for a couple of seconds then go quiet for a couple of seconds and then make the noise again. Not sure whether that would suggest mechanical rather than tyres?

If it's a low frequency sound, similar to a helicopter's rotors, it could be that one or more rims have a slight buckle?
