Disco 4 auto stuck in park

Anyone shed any light on how to resolve this? When I start the engine the auto console comes up but won't move from P into D. Very frustrating struggling on how to resolve this. Not many mechanics wanting to visit and fix either to to the weather or there lack on knowledge? I called a Land Rover specialist and they didn't have a clue??

Help would be much appreciated guys thank you

Guessing, as you haven't filled your profile in, but you have an eight speed. Think I have a similar problem, occasional turning the selector is very notchy, sometimes refusing to move, think it may be electrical as turning everything off and restarting the engine seems to solve it for a week or more. Need to get it looked at but hoping to hang on till I get it serviced.

Obvious question....you are pressing the brake pedal aren't you?

Less obvious... Check the brake pedal switch is working, they are notorious for playing up and causing a variety of problems but you can only turn the selector out of park if you're pressing the brake pedal and the car recognises that you are doing so. Do your brake lights come on?

Yeah you can't start her up without pressing the brake pedal?

Rear brake lights are working fine, still won't budge out of p from the circular selector into P highly frustrating is there not a way to override this and put it straight into neutral even? Im aware this can be done on BMW's but unsure about these. Fantastic design.... Naaat.

Help would be much appreciated.

Currently stuck without wheels.

Are you parked on an incline? Maybe the parking pawl is jammed...

If you pull the cup holders out and the tray they sit in, there is then a anti spill tray under neath which unscrews with two screws from memory, under that there is a red handle that lifts/pulls, this puts it into neutral and may be enough to get you out of trouble in the short term.
I have just had the rotary knob replaced on mine because it became noisy and very notchy.

Mine did that, then randomly started flashing up gearbox fault. Just had mechatronic unit replaced as a result.
