Which tyres suit my needs

I'm after some advice I have just bought a new to me D4 which I pick up next week it as 19" wheels on at present brand new Pirelli scorpion tyres.

I will be using this for my work which involves travelling maybe 200 mile on motorways then a couple of mile across farmers fields rutted lanes etc to carry out surveys I will be alone so don't really want to be stuck which is the best tyre and do I keep 19" or look for new wheels too.

Thanks

Pirelli ATRs would be my first choice, then GG AT3s or Duratracs. Just be aware that many a D3/4 has come to grief/got stuck on benign looking farmer's field, wet grass is otherwise known as green ice.

Can't offer to much advice on the tyres, but the D4 can only take 19" wheels or bigger, unless you go with a non-standard after market wheel

used to run ATRs, MT/Rs and a few others like Wranglers or Scorpions but when switched to DuraTracs I found perfect tire for all conditions

not noticable MPG jump not extra noise unless going way over 70 and very capable in most conditions and very comfy in 19" size

You could also consider putting the Compomotive 18 inch wheels on. This opens up more options for tyre choice. Including the BF Goodrich AT KO2 which would be my choice for your requirements.

But then I would say that... This is mine.

I would love a set of competitive rims but they're like Hens teeth and can't justify brand new. A set went for sale here a year ago and I still curse myself for not buying them.

Why not standard 18" wheels as an option? I agree that the compomotives are an excellent looking wheel but they are also an excellent price.

For those wanting to run 265/65/18 or similar tyre I don't see why the compomotives are a prerequisite as opposed to the standard Disco 3 18" rims....unless I am missing something?

Due to the large front brakes on a D4, the only 18“ wheels that clear the calipers are the Compomotive ones.

18“ D3 wheels don't fit a D4.

Are the standard D4 brakes larger than the D3 V8's then?
