Droning noise - suspect wheel bearing

Hi all

I have noticed my D3 is getting a droning noise and slight vibration through the floor and steering wheel. I suspect a wheel bearing may going, despite a local tyre place checking and saying there was no issue. The noise disappears when I turn right but stays when driving straight on or turning left. Which bearing is indicated by this please?

Cheers

Andy

I've just done the NSF wheel bearing, because I found quite a lot of play when I put my winter tyres on.
I have done both fronts now, but neither made any noise, I only found them to be bad by jacking up and feeling the play.

Noises increased by turning, could well indicate a wheel bearing.

I have the Same drone and vibration, been like that for ages,no worse ,no better passed a mot no problem.
do a search on here, droning from the front end same issue.I have read on here they don't have to have play for them to be on the way out.
Your line of thinking is usually correct regarding which side, others have thought the same and ending up doing both sides Thumbs Up

Good luck

I have that too. If it persists when your coasting I would get the front diff checked, apparently they give trouble from around 250,000 km

cheers all. its going into local indy on Saturday. I did the front drivers a few years ago but had a big driveway to do it on. I have moved since but not even worth getting my tools out this time, front bearing supplied and fitted £140.

Unfortunately at that price it's likely to be a cheap pattern bearing which are notorious for failing quickly.

I did surmise as much but it's just to keep it going until after Christmas. I've had it 9 years now and things are starting to escalate, electrics especially. Love the car but time to move on. I will be going for another disco3, late model.

well tha garage that was going to do it called me about an hour after i dropped it off saying that they thought it was the front o/s, and that the part didn't come in the day before (thanks for not telling me when I dropped the car). I tooke the car to another indy and within 30 mins had diagnosed the rear passenger was completely shot. they couldn't fit it in that day and were fully booked all week. I told them I was going to London that week and they fitted me in. Superb service, all sorted £240 including a nw backplate that had perished. Thumbs up to North Eastern 4x4 in Stockton, thumbs down to xxx!
