Question......C-Tek MXS 5.0

I have a C-Tek MXS 5.0..... that has been a brilliant piece of kit the four years I have had it.....

Can it overcharge a battery ?....mines a Varta AGM one I use the frost symbol,to charge this as per instructions...

Battery charged & I get a full set of yellow LED's..... + the green one
We went out for a while & there was a power cut I'm told...battery charger still plugged in & switched on....the C-Tek seems to have resumed a recharge & is showing four yellow LED's...so will this just add to what's in there....or could this overcharge the battery ?

A vehicle with a C-Tek connected & left on could do this maybe?
 BREXIT - done properly.

If this is relative , mine has been hooked up to the Ctek 5 for about 3 days and is showing the 6 plus green so 7 lights on
I had the power off at home for about 3 hours whilst fitting new light and socket fittings
didnt turn the charger off before shutting down the DB
switched power back on and it went to the same point in minutes
Thumbs Up

Thanks

Many thanks For the reassurance as by my reckoning it stayed on charging for about another two hours - from yellow light four...

AGM Battery

My instruction book said use the cold battery symbol......like a snowflake
The normal charge setting doesn't work......the cycle doesn't complete
I've never had need to use the recon one
Thanks

It won't overcharge.

The later 5 with the red button have a mode for AGM batteries. IIRC.

Only select the AGM/snowflake mode when it is below freezing. Modern AGMs don't want or need the higher voltage.

Robbie....

My CTek is about five years old....MXS 5.0 has just four options
Cycle.....which I take to be a smaller battery than I would ever have
Car.....which doesn't work on any of the four AGM's I have bought & fitted to the vehicles I have....the cycle doesn't get past step 4...
Snowflake.....where the CTEK instructions say I have to select for an AGM battery
Recond...to resurrect Censored very flat or aged batteries...which I have used but not on any AGM

I've dug into this with the place I bought my CTek....the snowflake symbol is the one to use fit AGM batteries...it's the one that they use.

Look here:
http://www.ctek.com/Archive/ProductPdf/MXS%205.0%20v1_EN.pdf
The script says an AGM needs 14.7volts.....checking this it comes out at 14.58 to 14.6 measured by quite an elaborate Fluke meter from work...

NOCO chargers seem to deal with this a different way...
Also just bought a NOCO GB70 starting pack.....got a very healthy discount on this

Again many thanks...
