ECUs settings erased - Disco3 2005

Hi,

We tried to set day-time lighting using MSV-2 via the Instrumentation menu.
The saving process failed during the writing and many of the settings is gone or corrupted (see screenshots below, you will notice the VIN, Legacy Assembly Number and other details are missing or has weird characters in it ).

Currently, we cant start the car and an 'E' appears on the dashbaord.

I guess reflashing will help but I dont know which versions to choose from.

Any help will be gladly appreciated.

thx

It can be done but it needs all the infomation inserting manually that is missing, reflashing it will not work if its corrupt.
What you need is the exact same car year and model CCF file so you can copy 99% of the information thats is missing, if you do not have a backup of your CCF file.
You can download your as built file from BBS site but you would need a Nanocom to be able to upload it to your car.

I have a few hundred CCF files as backups, if your stuck, just send me your car info in a pm and we can see if we can get you up and running again.

There should be a backup file for the CCF, but I cant remeber where it is stored as its been a while since I used my MSV for reflashing.

Flack Thumbs Up

@Flack - not sure I am following you, I use MSV-2 to reflash VBF files I download from BBS support site for a long time.
Usually, when we get some errors we simply reflash the VBF file and it solves the issue.

This time I cant find the legacy assembly numbers so I dont know which VBF files to download and reflash.

@geoff - power to the MSV-2?

I have an 05 se as well but from what you have said you have basically wiped the cars info from the memory so it does not know what it is so you need to load a similar cars configuration to tell the different ecu's what to do that's why on the IID tool when you first plug it in it asks you if you want to save the current ccf file which you do so if there is a problem at a later date then you can revert to those settings which i assume you have not got so you either need a new set of parameters from some one on here or from bbs or some one with a IID tool to reload them back to your car thats why it comes up with missing or corrupted Thumbs Up

The file is either missing or corrupt on the MSV, you might need to wipe it and reinstall all the software and files on it. That file should be there.

Hi All,

We still have the problem.
We wiped and installed fresh both the VE on the laptop and the MSV-2 as well but still get the same problem.

BBS team helped me a lot and were kind to us, but on the last email they told me I am missing something elementary about the CCF flashing process and I would like to have you help here.

According to them:
Quote:

diagnostic tools / code which provide the ability to erase and write the
flash memory of ECU's It is a safety feature that means that there is no
code in the ECU that could ever accidentaly erase of change the Flash
contents

The Boot Loader is only ever loaded into the ECUS RAM memory, which clears
every reset and not its flash, so it does not reside in the ECU and must
be re uploaded to the ECU from the vehicle server, every time you want to
write the flash memory, Either the firmware or a CCF.

The secondary Boot loader is a part of this file that has to be uploaded
to the vehicle server from the PC

SM4007: CCF System Files L319/L320

Please note that as we include the Boot loader as part of the files for
flashing firmware, this file only affects CCF flashing.

My questions:
1. How do I uploaded the bootloaders to the ECU so I can flash the iPack CCF file?
2. Can someone describe how he usually flash CCF file (iPack)?
3. I thought about flashing the ECU to get the bootloader uploaded but then I will be required to restart the ecu with the ignition key and I guess this will clear the RAM.
4. Is there a place I can learn more about this / Read about this topic? I couldnt find this deep materials on BBS support site.

thx

If it was me I would use these files that work for COD, they should upload fine..

Use these files you should not have to do anything but just select these files and write them to the car. you will have the old Red FBH indicator light on the dash come on when the lights are on but at least it should get the car up and running .

YAC502060 assy load with software NNV504570

gstuart so if you get something wrong when flashing then you can get your car back to how it was before you owned the Discovery and not having a 3 tonne brick on the drive but i dont thinkyou can do anyones you can fault read/clear but each vehical has it's own vin number so dont think so Thumbs Up

@gclass

You need to find these files on your MSV and select them in a free section in the program Ecu for the Intsrument Pack, they will upload to the section you choose, once there select that line/section then over on the left select write. The MSv should now write those files to the instrument pack and if successfull you should end up with COD Clock on the dash/Instrument pack as well as the radio screen.

Have a read of this thread on BB forum, its for doing the COD upload.
