Drivers door unlocking failure. Pointers please.

Hello there. Thanks for looking. The 07 d3 has decided to lock out through drivers side door. All the checks have been done off the site. Holding lever while unlocking etc.

However on looking on the posts I've not seen much mention of the locking tap thing on inside sticking. Which is what is happening.

I have got my head round it's going to be a strip out but was wondering if the door can be easily accessed when the door is shut. Also if the tab thing is sticking if it's generally a new locking module.

Any pointers will be greatly received before I get out the tool box!!
Thanks again.. Lee

Sounds like the latch is broken, if so very common fault and have done 3 of mine to date
Replace the latch after taking door card off and im guessing this will cure your locking woes
About an hours job first time you try it, and plenty of info/videoes on here to help
Pretty easy job once you get into the door
I got replacements from ebay/metal monster on forum
All working fine a year on

Almost impossible to remove door latch without opening the door first, seat has to be removed, window glass taken out, even then damage will be done to the door card to the extent it will need a new door card, even then it is extremely difficult and almost impossible if it is the first one you have changed, change or repair the latch before it reaches this stage Thumbs Up

Thanks for the pointers. I was speaking to a guy who I know who works for the aa. He said sometimes... you can give the door handle a huge thump while pressing unlock in the car and that sometimes releases... otherwise he said... good luck!

Thumping the handle is pointless as the door handle is connected to the actuator with a cable Whistle does work on some makes of car though particularly Mini's when the electric windows are stuck.
Easiest way is to take it to LR main agent as the time charged to change an actuator is only one hour Shocked. Anyone who can change an actuator with a door that won't open is a better man than me, and I've done several, it takes an hour stood on your head to take the seat out Laughing

I think the guy was trying to cover all bases before i subject myself to hours of misery!!

He used to work for landrover and now the AA so Maybe the shock through the door sometimes makes the motor spring back to life if the cables/levers are not broken. Must be something in it.

But i see what your saying about the for sure about the cable connections ha ha ha

Well I'm going in today.. thanks for the advice.. wish me luck!

Well I completed the replacement today. Wow.. what a task
.Luckily I have long fingers and hands.

I can't thank the guys enough for putting up the guides. It was hard knowing what to do so trying to do it without the guide would of been horrendous.

Luckily I have a not bad tool kit which helped. I have a ratchet spanner set with a thumb turn which helped with removing the speaker.

Non of the levers would open the catch so had to use mirror to locate the pin which needed lifting. I only had angled circling pliers but these did the job.

If I could give any pointers it would be...

Head torch a must.

Remember to fasten seat belt back in before fastening down
the drivers seat!

Get two pairs of hands to remove window and actuator.

Follow the guides!!!

Thumb turn.

Just got in.

Push the black bit upwards.
