Either it's someone who doesn't like the D5 being naughty with rumours or LR have a problem with their processes on this version of the aluminium system. My vote is the former... Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

Rumour Control, some ones seen all the D5's at the NEC and pulled that one outa the hat......
"Yeah... they're all in quarantine because there's a fault... something to do with body flexing, apparently they're like banana, all of em, waiting to be scrapped and recycled"
I'm sure that there's a computer some where that's drawn up the code for assembly and to confirm all this CAD stuff they tow a laden trailer with 5 Ton of ballast about "on private land" which will identify any flex. If they have managed to build a monocoque chassis with flex then they should be given an award any way, I'd imagine it would be pretty difficult for LR to crock that up. Only dead fish go with the Flow !

I don't see it myself but it's LR so anything can happen.
It flexes cos its now toooo long, LR should have made it shorter with more room inside, rather than longer with less

It doesn't flex.
It's the same length as the FFRR.
it's 30% stronger than the Retired D4. Peter

Boasting a 39-percent lighter body than the outgoing steel Range Rover, the 2013 model will be built at a new aluminum production facility at Land Rover's Solihull, U.K., factory. Coupled with other weight-reduction strategies, the result is a U.S.-spec Range Rover that's 700 pounds lighter than the current model: 4,850 pounds for the regular 5.0-liter V8 model and 5,137 pounds for the supercharged version.
The focus on weight reduction is ostensibly an effort to improve the Range Rover's dismal fuel economy, but Land Rover representatives stressed the model's improved stiffness and handling rather than any major fuel-efficiency. Peter

Ive no axe to grind, I'm merely relaying what a pal of mine who works in the factory in Solihull has told me. The specifics of my post may not be entirely accurate, but the most notable keywords of his comment to me were that of "chassis", "flex" and "major f*cking problem".
We shall see what happens I guess. I would actually be very interested in a D5 commercial as I tow heavily for over 20k a year, but not if its crap.

I wonder if this explains the bolt on bracing that runs from the centre of the bulkhead to part way down the inner wings in the engine photos? It did look like an afterthought.

I only remember them on old ones, like the original XJ6's from the late 60's.
What modern cars are you thinking of?

Aston Martin use them. I think I've seen them in BMWs too. M3 perhaps? Visiting from rrsport.co.uk
