Hi all,
Just bought some new Osram LED bulbs for my disco 3 2008. I fitted them and whilst the bulb was flashing regularly the dashboard was flashing at double the speed.
I understand this is because the LED is sending such a low signal it thinks a bulb is gone.
Is there away to buy a regulator to help with this issue or do I need to buy a LED bulb with a regulator fitted already?
If neither of these work what is the best way to be able to upgrade to LED bulb safely?
Thanks
Dan

You could add a resister to the wiring, similar to that of the D4 light upgrade. 05 V8 HSE Bonatti Grey

Hi Plocker,
Thanks for the quick response.
I'm not keen on adding a register to the wiring. I'm guessing this means cutting wire etc... far outside my comfort zone I'm afraid.
Is there not a flasher relay you can use in the fuse box?

Either bulb or led with load resistor.

Pete K , thanks
Is there an LED that has the Load resistor incorporated in the fitting or is it a case of buying the load resistor separately and wiring that in?
Cheers

I'm not aware of any built in. The load resistors are big you see.
It's not too difficult to fit.

Pete K, one more thing.
What is the watts needed for the load resistor for the indicators?

You will need a 6ohm, 50w resistor in parallel for each led bulbs. It's a 5 min job as you can use scotch blocks to attach the resistor to the indicator loom. The side repeaters are so small in terms of loading that they do not affect the indicator flash speed. Si

Hi all, thanks for the help so far. I now understand.
I have purchased the load resistors needed and can see who they are fitted but just for piece of mind does anyone have a video or pics on the finer details?
Ive heard you need to attached the resistor to a metal plate, is this correct, where can you put the metal plate on the light unit?
Thanks

Hey Si, good to know. I suspect it's a bit of a nightmare to take the unit out and take a picture just for me?!! Don't go out your way but if at any stage you are taking the unit out would you get a few pictures for me?
