Window Tint: what %?
I'm booking my car in for a window tint next week to replicate Privacy Glass.
I've called a couple of places and one recommended 20% tint and the other 15%. Does anyone know which is closer to the original, or indeed, what the tint on the original was/is?

Think original factory is 20%. Many people have gone for limo tint - do a search there are loads of threads with pictures.

Thanks - I found lots of threads. This question had been asked before... and there I was thinking that I was original.
As best as I can tell Limo is 5%. That seems very dark but I'll guess I'll have to wait until I can see some upfront. I dont want to upset the limo drivers out there, but I dont want it looking like a Commercial. That is my concern.

Yes, Limo is 5%.
It is dark looking in from the outside, but that's what its for, makes it difficult for the to see in and gives protection for the dogs.
You'll have noticed from the threads that there are differences of opinion on tints - each to their own

had tints like that on mine when i bought it,
but removed the second row seat ones and left the backs on
is nice to stop prying eyes from looking in
also handy when someone comes up behind u with there full beam on
is surprising though when u see a car that has really dark tinting alround
trying to think is it 70 percent light they have to let it , often see the police pulling up cars with tints on, then seeing the driver slowly pulling them off
see there's some good web sites were u can change the level of tint , it then displays it on the car , to give u an idea of how it will look
never been able to master putting tints on, always end up in the bin

Any tint on the windscreen must be 25% or less, any tint on the front side windows must be 30% or less, ie they must let in at least 75% or 70% light respectively.
There is no minimum for rear side or rear windows.
So as long as you only tint windows past the B pillar you can have whatever you want.Uncle Ray's spare wheel protector

hi ian
that's does look good
personally never like tints on the front and middle windows, only the backs
as of a night in not seeing something whilst pulling out of a junction etc , due to the tint
still even though it's illegal where motorcyclists wearing tinted visors at night
here's mine

I had limo black tints fitted on a V70 (really dark). Rears and back windows. At night you can only see head lights through them. You can't see if it has a blue light on top until it's flashing.
My d3 has dark glass. Not sure on the %. It's difficult to see in but easy to see out of.
