Am I heading down the right track? EGR Issues |
|
Just wanted to check my thinking is correct before I go in with 2 feet.
Mrs went to leave for work this morning, car started fine, went to pull away and as soon as she touched the throttle the yellow engine light came on and the car had no power so left the car on the drive and went to work.
I've come home, the car has very little power and revs slowly. I have Delphi loaded onto a toughbook so I have read the codes and got the following...
PO401 : Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Insufficent Deteced
Intermittent
PO489 : Exhaust Gas Recirculation Control Circuit Low
Intermittent
PO45D : Exhaust Gas RecirculationB Control Circuit High
Intermittent
So I am presuming this is EGR Valves? I have cleared the codes and floored the throttle, the engine is revving properly but chucked out plenty of black smoke.
So my question is this : Is this the EGR Valves? Would I be better off blanking them off? and can I blank them off I know there is an issue with later engines? Mine is a 2007 2.7 TDV6
Thanks in advance

You'll need a software update to stop the EML coming on.
Black smoke is usually a split pipe or intercooler leak somewhere. But if they are the only fault codes, then could be egr stuck open and therefore egr blank would fix the reluctance to Rev. Bodsys Brake Bible

It only took about 30 minutes. Passenger side was really easy drivers side took the time as it's harder to get at the exhaust end of the EGR. Careful you don't drop any bolts or they will be gone for ever.

Plenty of penetrating fluid as the bolts can rust quite significantly. Bodsys Brake Bible
