2011 headlights to 2014 headlights
A mate wants to do this mod to his D4 and I understand there is a wiring modification to do in order to get the DRL function. Just done a search but didn't get a definitive answer. One post mentioned an earth.
Any pointers with photos would be a great help.
Cheers

I think it involves a bumper/grille swap as well... the newer lights are a different shape. 2005 D3 HSE 2011 D4 Landmark 2016 D4 HSE Lux

Consider that there's a sizeable drop in performance between the two (if changing like for like; if going from halogen 2010 to xenon 2014 there is just negligible gain). Also looking for the same answer Andy. Searched the site top to bottom but no specific details, even in robbo770's archived facelift thread.
2012 halogens to 2015 Xenons. I understand you can plug in, enable and they'll work. But as you said, wiring mod is required for correct DRL functionality.
Anyone?

He's got a HSE so should already have xenons but no DRL. Not sure if he knows about the bumper and grill change but will mention it. He's away with work for a few weeks so can't check anything on the car till then.
Yeah looked a that thread but as you say nothing definitive.

From what I've read if you go from D4 halogen to D4 xenon don't you need to update the CCF as the headlights won't work only sidelights.D4 MY15 SE TECH

Have asked this question elsewhere as well and have been told you need an extra controller in order for the DRL's to dim when indicating.
Will need to do a bit more research.

I enabled a set for a forum member a few days ago. With the CCF set appropriately the LEDs that form the DRL work as sidelights as per earlier D4s with LED fairy lights. They light at the mid-brightness level and remain at this level. If you want them lit at all times then the jumper wire mod (as per my guide) will still work and the brightness will be fixed.
There is no controller as such to control the brightness of the LEDs as they are controlled directly by the FETs in the CJB as per the other lights. If the CJB wants the LEDs dim it just sends power on one circuit to just 3 LEDs. If it wants it mid-brightness it sends power on another circuit to light a further 24. If the CJB wants it bright it sends power to the final set of 24 LEDs.
Does that help?Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

Yeah sort of.
Does this enable the DRL to function with the indicators as well. Am I right in thinking that once the wiring mod has been made the headlight unit will take care of the DRL/indicator function.
Also with going from early D4 xenons to late D4 xenons that the main beam flash function is just plug and play or is another wiring mod required.
I'll have another read of your guide
Cheers

No, without the different FETs and CJB logic the LEDs will remain as sidelights, rather than DRLs. If you wire them to light more LEDs to increase brightness they will remain that bright at night and whilst indicating, effectively obscuring the indicators.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948
