I have one with the fixed ball. Great towbar but the finish didn't last long.

Looking good Thumbs Up

Hopefully mine is now on the way. Still strikes me as the best of the fixed towbars looks-wise and certainly will give more confidence towing given all the bad publicity over the removable Sad

p.s. Does it come with the cover for the socket when the tow hook is not in ?

Yes it does Roy.

Top tip when fitting:
Be careclful with the chassis inserts.
Don't fully tighten until all bolts are in place.
Support the arms on the insert using slack cable tie whilst placing arm onto chassis bolt

a daft question, but why this one over the OEM LR fixed one. Had my fixed on on 2 D3's and 2 D4's (just take it off old one, fit to new one) so its 11 years old now, and never had any problems with it.

Loss of ground clearance with OEM Fixed which is a great bit of kit & after an incident a few years back I'll never use the OEM removable again.

I like the look of the bracketry etc, looks smart and close lines to the bumper, but is the only option the huge dropper frame and adjustable plate ???

Is there not an issue with rear parking sensors, when I fit my nato hitch I always get interference

This is an add on to the original tow bar. Most of the time the plate with the tow ball sits in a box in the back of the D3. It's easy to fit, just a couple of bars with security clips.

It also means that the light fingered brigade have not a lot to nick, also keeps it out of the way of the parking sensors except when reversing with trailer on, so I just switch it off.

My trailer hitch is higher than the 'normal' caravan height, hence the reason for the mod.

Works OK for me.

This is the std fitting Greg. I opted for the adjustable as have 3 trailers & tin tent, they all sit at different heights so that gives me options.

I have a removable one but never used it although likely too in the near future? What was the incident you refer too?

Our disco will be 6 years old next January and the removable lowball has been used every year for towing our 1700kg Airstream. The fitting was checked earlier this year under the LR recall scheme and found to be still in perfect condition -- HOWEVER I always remove it when not towing and ensure that that the receiver and the male section are kept spotless.

Removable fell out whilst towing allowing a twin axle Ifor to demolish a telegraph pole. Luckily it was on a B road & was unladen, I was on my way to collect a 1/2 tonne mower.
Still have the hitch & the locking pin is clearly in the 'lock' position.
