Removing injectors - special tools |
|
Hi,
I have a cracked inlet manifold and will be doing the job myself.
Looking at the manual some special tools are needed especially in order to get the rear-most injectors out as they are obstructed by the bulkhead / body.
1) Slide hammer - probably a generic one will do but I dont know what thread it has:
https://jlrequipment.service-solutions.com...KU=100-012
2) Adapter that screws onto the injector and onto the slide hammer:
https://jlrequipment.service-solutions.com...KU=310-213
3) L-shaped adapter to allow removal of the rear-most injectors which are obstructed by the bulkhead / body.

Does anyone know where a member of the public can get these tools? That site only allows you to buy from it if you are a business - which I am not.
Regards,
Julian

I was looking at getting this: http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-RX1858
But given Disco Mikey's advice above I'm going to try without in the first instance... D3 SE with Hankook MT 275/65/R18, IID BT Tool, ProSpeed rock/tree sliders + compressor guard, RLD sump guard & winch tray + 13,000lb hidden winch, Gearbox guard, Frontrunner 80l aux tank with fuel gauge, V8 brake upgrade, Traxide USI-160 dual battery system, Frontrunner ladder, custom boot storage, Lazer LED driving lights, de-cat exhaust, Aftermarket Oro TPMS, i7 Mac Mini touch screen install (running Windows 10) mirrored on rear screens.

So do you find they just wiggle out with a bit of persuasion?
Any tips to ensuring an easy removal?

Julian

Thanks Disco Mikey I did wonder if this was really needed but will find out!
On a similar vein, the manual says I should replace the 6 x injector fuel pipes plus the one that joins the two fuel rail together round the back of the engine... what do you say to that? Can they be carefully reused or are leaks inevitable?

Julian

Fantastic - thanks for the very quick reply!
Do you have any general tips for others embarking on replacing inlet manifolds that you can think of? Any pitfalls or traps need to be wary of?
Regards,
Julian
