[Wanted] M8 Square Nuts

Looking to replace the ageing square nuts from the Front Runner Windcheetah rack I purchased recently and struggling to find them online, on fleabay, etc.

Any ideas?

M8 thread and they're approx. 19x19x5mm and slightly chamfered to the top.

Thumbs Up

As this is a wanted item and not a sale post I am assuming I can send you some links to what you are looking for? Here goes.

https://www.orbitalfasteners.co.uk/en/cate...inc-plated

http://uk.rs-online.com/web/ Search for part number 837-313. Minimum qty 100 not helpful though!

Close but not chamfered.

Maybe of some help?

Cheers.

Thanks KV but, like the others I've found, the M8 only come out at 13x13 and not the 19x19 I'm after.

Apologies for not paying attention Rolling Eyes

Sounds like a job for the small engineering company or man in his shed. We have a guy local to us who builds speedway bike frames in aluminium (amongst other things) and this summer he has done several 'metalwork' jobs for me including building some fuel rail pressure tests points on an engine.

Just a nice chap and for a relatively few pounds each time. Welding, machining, brazing, you name it.

Might pay to Google a man that can rather than the specific item

Just a thought.

@ blue meanie: Already pinged an email to the F/R rep in the UK, so will see what comes of that. Thumbs Up

@ kilovolt: Sounds like I need a night in my local boozer again then. Two peeps in particular that I know could or at least know a man that does!

Thumbs Up

that's a candidate for 3D printing - I've already successfully replicated a variation of an odd-ball bolt I needed for my old lawnmower doing this - longevity isn't an issue if you can just print another one every now and again

Not sure I would trust 3D printing for a rack mount...but that's just me. A mate of mine that works as an electrical engineer for Airbus says they 3D print parts all the time.

I suppose there would be nothing wrong in using hex nuts if I could find M8 19x5mm.

Maybe not helpful but for the T-track I just bought a 20mm bar from B&Q and made my own. You can then tap your own thread?

Did you get sorted with these?

If you go down the route of making your own, you need a 6.8mm drill to tap M8 x 1.25 thread
