The gas station i used said 10% ethanol but the shop chemically tested it at 20%. Seems the fuel was diluted
Based on what my shop said about landys I'd suggest you run a fuel treatment with water remover for a few days before ruling fuel out as a problem. I had the codes come back for a couple days, but they're still long gone.

what sort of large air pipe do you have from the airbox ?
It is a rigid one that doesn't seal very well ?

Had the problem return and got some great advice and successfully fixed again... details at https://landroverforums.com/forum/lr3-28/p0171-p0174-codes-86034/
In short:
1) the engine adaptation values seem to be sustaining the error codes after the issue is fixed. Get an odb2 tool that can reset engine adaptations to quickly clear the error codes.
2) metal gaskets on the EGR valve may leak in colder weather, so try some gasket maker on these
3) my egr feed pipe (metal tube that connects exhaust to the egr valve) had vibrated lose at the exhaust side on the back of the engine bay. I tightened with ~1/2 turn on each bolt.
Not sure if #2 or #3 was my problem. I fixed both at the same time in about an hour, then reset adaptation values and the code has not returned. I was able to pass inspection and am legal again! I attached a diagram that shows both metal gaskets and the EGR valve feed pipe.

Mine is a plastic housing with a ~3 inch rubber grommet. I've heard the air box can crack at the seam, but mine passed a smoke test.

Quick update, the lean codes haven't returned so I can confirm the steps in my last post are a permanent fix for my specific problem.
