Mud in engine

So today I was filling my screen wash and as it overflowed a little puddle appeared under the car, thick with mud from Peterborough. When I got home I jetwashed the underside as best I could but didn't spray the engine bay for obvious reasons. Any advice on cleaning it out? I've considered wading a deep ford and dropping to access height but even that I don't think will have enough force to remove the mud, just wet it. Fitting underbody protection in a few weeks so it makes sense to be clean before then.

Just use a hose on low power not a pressure washer

If you have a lawn spraying attachment for your hose pipe, set it up under the engine and change it's position a few times. This will get rid of most of it and it's not powerful enough to do any damage.

Credit for this top tip goes to DiscoDunc who first told me about it Thumbs Up
